Over the past several months, you may have heard some talk about health systems having inaccurate provider data, causing communication troubles between health systems and referring providers. According to The Fresno Bee, a recent California state audit found several inaccuracies in Medi-Cal managed care provider directories. This means they had the wrong physician names, phone numbers, addresses, status, practice type, et cetera, which poses an obvious industry-wide problem. This can't go on much longer—the updated data is out there, but these companies don't have it. How can the industry be as smooth and seamless as healthcare reform would like it to be when there is this much bad, outdated provider data? Physicians are the backbone of the healthcare industry—shouldn't it be a priority to make sure the information we have for them is always up-to-date?
Data is a difficult thing to manage, especially physician data. Managed care providers, insurance providers, hospitals and health systems have much more to focus on than physician records, and it is only audits like these that show these issues to the public. One company can think that they have the most up-to-date data, but who knows if that is accurate if they're just getting it from one source? Phynd focuses solely on the world of physician data and its accuracy. Techniques such as pulling information and comparing across several sources to create the most up-to-date profiles is one of the ways Phynd revolutionizes the healthcare industry with regard to provider information. Data is the most reliable when compared to similar data from another source, especially in the ever-changing healthcare industry. Providers change addresses, contact information, personal names, and even lose their state license information for various reasons. We aggregate our data from the two most reliable sources in the industry, not to mention straight from the hospital. If an IT department updates a physician's information in their EMR system, we'll know about it right away and update our records accordingly. In addition to this, we pull information from all over the nation to build the most up-to-date provider profiles in the industry.
